Hey everybody, I just found out my house has termites. Does anybody have any advice about who to hire to get rid of them? Is there anybody I should avoid?
I'd be grateful for any advice on the subject of termites at all.
Please don't tell me any horror stories about termite damage because I'm trying not to freak out.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a nail salon in Beaumont? All I'm looking for is a good manicure with nothing fancy and is open to walk-ins or short notice appointments. Thanks.

| Animals need your help. |
[12 Apr 2009|11:10pm] |
Apr 10, 2009 (The Beaumont Enterprise - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Puddin's Place, the Lumberton no-kill shelter for dogs and cats, will close its doors Friday, April 17th.
A lack of donations, a tumbling economy and an excess of needy animals are the three main factors for shuttering the shelter, said Tina Nelson, Puddin's Place board member and Orange resident.
"We are just heartbroken. Since that time, everything just went downhill," Nelson said. "All these abandoned cats and dogs started coming in and nobody had any money left to donate. So we have until the middle of this month to find homes for the rest of the babies."
The shelter, which is located at 2512 US 69 S., currently houses 68 dogs available for adoption or foster care, according to Nelson.
Adoption rates are $50 per animal and include shots and spaying or neutering procedures.
Persons interested in viewing the available animals can visit the shelter from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For information, call Nelson at (409) 670-8716 or e-mail her at petlady67@yahoo.com.
--- I personally don't know any of these people but I adopted a great cat from this shelter. He's sweet and most importantly, he goes in the box!

| Avon, ladies? |
[11 Apr 2009|11:13pm] |
Greetings. My name is Susan and I've lived in Nederland for around two or three years now... I grew up in Houston but I must admit I like Nederland and Beaumont a lot better.
I know this community isn't very active, but I'm hoping that there are some girls here who may be interested in Avon.
Avon's products are wonderful, high quality, and inexpensive. They don't test on animals and they have sales and deals going on ALL the time. You don't even have to order out of a catalog - I have a website that you can order from and the items will be shipped directly to your front door. Or you can have the items shipped to me and I'll deliver them for free. The choice is yours :)
Visit my website here:

Take care!

Does anyone know of any organic/health food stores in the Beaumont/mid-county area? My Google-Fu came up with a place called Basic Foods on Downlen Rd. I'm in Nederland, so is it worth the trip? Are their prices and selection decent? Etc.
Thanks in advance for the help!

If any of you are still holding tickets from last year's "to be rescheduled" ZZ Top concert, you should contact your retailer and see about getting a refund. Coon Dog's website says tickets will be honored whenever the show is finally rescheduled, but the Ford Park box office said they will only issue a refund through May 1, 2009.

| Left overs |
[25 Jan 2009|10:01am] |
I recently had my house remodeled (care of Ike). During the process I purchased some newer lighting fixtures and fans. The older fixtures and fans still work they are just a little dated. Here is my dilemma: what can I do with perfectly good light fixtures besides toss them?
Is there a place I can donate them? does someone know of a person who is in need of working fixtures?
I hate to toss them because it seems so wasteful.
I have two large ceiling fans and two hanging globe lights.

Does anybody know why Channel 4 is going Fox? And does that mean we're not going to have NBC? If that's true then that sucks big time! This place is getting more and more uninhabitable.

Hello. I just joined, and I hope this is allowed.
If anybody needs to have someone watch their animals for Labor Day weekend, or any other time, I've just started a pet sitting service. I live in Nederland, and I'm willing to service all of mid-county and Beaumont. I feel that my rates are pretty reasonable and realistic. I'll pet sit any type of pet, the only exceptions being horses and livestock due to the fact that I have no experience with them, and snakes over six foot in length (small snakes are fine though). And well, exotics like monkeys and stuff.
I have experience with most of the common pet animals. Myself, I have three dogs, two rats, two fish and a snake.
I have a website which you can see at http://www.mind-bender.org/petsit
Thanks, and have a good weekend! :)
